In the spring of 1996, the founders of
Education World recognized the need for a Web site that would make the Internet easier for educators to use. They wanted to create a home for educators on the Internet, a place where teachers could gather and share ideas. They wanted to create a complete online resource where educators could start each day to find the lesson plans and research materials they were looking for.
The result is Education World, the Educator's Best Friend.
Education World's goal is to make it easy for educators to integrate the Internet into the classroom. With 98 percent of the nation's public schools connected to the Internet, the need for a complete online educational guide is evident.
Nowadays' mostly non-profit organizations play an important role in the society's life.
GuideStar Reports are Web pages displaying information on a single nonprofit organization. The amount of information available on these mini-Web sites depends on the participation level of the
organization. The most active nonprofits provide information for their GuideStar Report, create their own newsletters, and post classified ads and press releases. Each page of the report is devoted to one aspect of the organization: mission and programs, finances, accomplishments and goals, or leadership. GuideStar Reports are found by searching the database and selecting one of the organizations on the Search Results page.
Science Daily is unique in that the magazine's articles are selected from news releases submitted by leading universities and other research organizations around the world. Each news release is posted in its original form, with a link to the organization's home page, to aid journalists and others interested in finding up-to-date and relevant background information for a particular story. In this way, ScienceDaily takes what has been compared to the - C-SPAN - approach -- delivering science news in its original, unedited format directly from the source (in this case, the news bureaus and public affairs offices of major universities and research institutions).
